Rosemary-Infused Vodka

Rosemary Infused Vodka

I think it’s time for a cocktail.

I’m ready for one, at least. I’ve spent most of this week paying a hefty price for severely overestimating what remained of my snowboarding abilities after a fair amount of time off the slopes. Bumps, bruises, a constant reminder of exactly where my tailbone is, and maybe even a little whiplash were overall a small price to pay for an awesome day outdoors in the biting winter air with a good friend – but, OW. Sometimes these things are a good reminder that I’m not twenty-five anymore (because we all need more reminders of that, am I right?).

Old fogies do ill-advised things for the sake of nostalgia, film at 11.

Luckily, I had a work trip this week to distract me from my whining about how sore I was and how I couldn’t turn my head more than 45 degrees either way.

What? Is this not your normal range of motion?

I’m on the mend, had a productive work trip with good clients and great coworkers, and am home safely in time for the weekend. Those are all causes for celebration – so back to that cocktail.

I love to infuse my own vodka, in almost any flavor, but this is one of my favorites. I really love herbal infusions more than fruit or vegetable ones, because their flavors steep so deeply into the vodka that you almost feel like you’re drinking a liquid version of the herb – I know that won’t sound appealing to everyone, and that’s fine. Not everyone will like this on the rocks/straight up – the rosemary is so pronounced in the aroma that if you don’t adore its earthy flavor, you may not love this by itself. But like basil vodka, it’s absolutely perfect for a unique spin on a bloody Mary – and that sounds to me like a perfect way to start the weekend.
